The name Wild Party conjures up images of alcohol-fueled late-night/early-morning ragers- complete with crazy friends, carefree dancing and drinking games. Wild Party, the band, is all the fun of a classic rager, just without the hangover.
Wild Party is a four-piece, indie power-pop outfit out of San Antonio, Texas. The band is made up of Lincoln Kreifels on vocals, Lucas Hughes on guitar, Jake Kreifels on bass and Ethan Kaufmann on drums.
In 2010, Wild Party earned a spot on the Wombats tour across the United Kingdom. Lincoln Kreifels, the band’s frontman, was only 19 years-old at the time and had minimal experience playing in front of a live audience. “My third show with the band was our first show opening with the Wombats,” Kreifels said in an interview. “It was a wild experience, but we’re used to playing those big crowds.” Despite their rookie status, Wild Party caught the attention of fans and, as a result, their single “Take my Advice” received airtime on UK’s Xfm radio.
Fast forward a couple years to 2013. Wild Party released a music video for their catchy song, “When I Get Older.” Fans swooned over the tune. The group now had the momentum to debut Phantom Pop, a collection of self-recorded and produced songs. And this time, the music industry swooned for Wild Party. The album soared to the iTunes top 100 chart quickly after release.
Currently the band is on tour and will soon make a stop at Atlanta’s own Drunken Unicorn on Tuesday, August 5th.
