Welp, the dreadful rain is back! Hopefully the weather won’t keep anyone at home tonight because we’ve got an awesome Wednesday lineup. Check it out!
Mieka Pauley and Eryn McHugh @ Eddie’s Attic
Special guests: Ghosts Along the Brazos. Mieka Pauley possesses a voice that flows like good whiskey and a frankness that makes Alanis Morissette look shy. She conjures up a sonic immediacy with the same masterful command as Ani DiFranco with driving, yearning melodies that stand alongside the work of Michelle Shocked, Neko Case and Emmylou Harris. Creative Loafing once wrote of Atlanta native Eryn McHugh: Though her drop-dead looks may cause some to dismiss her, there’s substance to this 21-year-old Atlanta native. Her self-titled debut (while a little slick), finds her running her soulful voice over surprisingly diverse musical terrain, sashaying from pop and country to gospel and soul without ever sounding lost.
Karma Lingo @ The Drunken Unicorn
Also playing: Cicada Rhythm, Boomfox and Hannah Washington. With musicals influences from Siouxie and the Banshees, Metric and The Cure, these Atlanta locals aren’t to be missed! Come support Karma Lingo and special guests tonight at the Drunken Unicorn as part of “Four Seasons II: Summer Madness”.
Secondhand Swagger @ The Earl
Also playing: The Mar-Tans. Secondhand Swagger is an Atlanta-based band with a passion for vintage sounds and style, disciples of soul music from the 1960s and 70’s. Their mission is to keep this music alive and people dancing, taking it back to a time when lyrics and melodies came from the heart with a wink and a laugh.
The Lipstick Junkies ft. Black Caviar and The Ray of Sunshine @ Smith’s Olde Bar
A live music experience like no other; combining the best elements of theatre, music, art, and dance. This monthly show, reminiscent of the Moulin Rouge, transports the audience to a musical playground…The Lipstick Lounge. Not your typical live performance, “The Lipstick Junkies featuring Black Caviar and The Ray of Sunshine” is a scripted show that will feature a new theme every month.
El-P and Killer Mike @ The Masquerade
With Despot and Kool A.D. Born Jaime Meline, El-Producto or El-P is an underground hip-hop producer & rapper from New York City. Killer Mike is straight out of ATL! Come and show support for this dynamic duo!
