Born Ruffians @ The Earl
Born Ruffians from Toronto, Canada recently released their third album Birthmarks. These songs – Birthmarks – came out of a dusty living room in an old house, in between chopping wood and building bonfires, playing crokinole at the kitchen table, cooking family dinners and shooting beer cans with a bow and arrow. Check out our album review of Birthmarks, and make sure to read our interview with the guys of Born Ruffians!
ROCK COMEDY w/ Rodney Perry @ Hard Rock Cafe’s Velvet Underground
Join us and celebrity host Rodney Perry for an evening of side splitting laughter. You’ll never know who’s going to grace the Velvet Underground stage. The last event did sell out. Don’t miss it!
Steve Moakler @ Eddie’s Attic
“You’re sweet, like I can’t deny,” are the opening lyrics of Steve Moakler’s first full-length album, All The Faint Lights. The same words can be spoken about the music that this Pittsburgh native has been making for the past five years. Having previously released two EPs, The Weight of Words (2007) and Like I Mean It (2008), Moakler has proved himself to be a master pop craftsman. His music is artistic, but accessible; indie roots with mass appeal. Listen to his music, and you too won’t deny his gift for sweet melodies and moving narratives that stick in your head like happy memories.
The Parlotones @ Smith’s Olde Bar
The Parlotones are known for their electric, polished stage performances delivered against the backdrop of their deftly crafted and darkly romantic lyrics. Their sound, described as alternative in their formative years has evolved substantially becoming more refined and focused with each album. It took the bands debut album ‘Radiocontrolledrobot’ two years to reach Gold status and their follow up ‘A World Next Door To Yours’ achieved this in three months. Three months later the album was certified Platinum. Testimony to just how much the band has grown over the past few years.’ Check out our interview with the band opening for The Parlotones, Dinner and a Suit!
