Here it comes kiddo’s! We are on the decline of the week! And boy oh boy, am I looking forward to the weekend!! Here are my choices for the coolest events in the city on this very UNIQUE DAY!
-Now that the turkey has been thoroughly picked over, now that the wishbone’s been yanked, now that uncle Owen has lived up to his dubious reputation, now that the minor holiday is behind us (is what I’m trying to hint at), we can focus on the crown jewel of the year. And while you’re out chopping down your tree, or dripping wax into your handmade Chanukah candles, we’re gearing up for our Christmas Collective, perhaps “Spectacular” would be a better word. Okay, so we won’t be on ice skates, but we will be back in Decatur at Eddie’s Attic on the fine date of Wednesday December 12 (that’s 12/12, mind you) for a kingly record, if ever there were one. Yes, when you think of the King in December, perhaps you think of Emmanuel? Well, we think of Elvis.
–Marina Lambrini Diamandis, also known by stage name Marina and the Diamonds, is a Welsh singer-songwriter. She rose to fame after reaching No. 2 on the BBC Sound of 2010 poll list, coming second to Ellie Goulding. She released her debut full-length studio album, The Family Jewels, in 2010. –Rob Delaney is originally from Boston. He attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He performs stand up regularly at the top comedy venues in Los Angeles, New York, and various clubs and theaters across the United States. Catch him at The Plaza Theater.
–Rachael Yamagata has been called ‘the troubadour of heartbreak’ by the press and fans are drawn to her ability to ‘turn emotion into song’. She’s got the old soul singer songwriter essence that calls upon Todd Rundgren, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, The Carpenters and Elton John and sonically gravitates towards the darker stylings of Nick Cave, Tom Waits, P.J. -BRAIN– A six piece amalgamation of musical castaways formed in early 2012 motivated by sounding cool without looking cool. With influences ranging all over the board from 70’s psyche rock to the shittiest pop songs of our day, whatever rises to the top that day is BRAIN. Only at The Earl.
