Titus Andronicus @ The EARL
While abandoning the linear narrative of The Monitor, the songs of LOCAL BUSINESS aim to make explicit the implications of the first two LPs, that the inherent meaninglessness of life in an absurd universe gives the individual power to create their own values and their own morality. This individual is celebrated throughout LOCAL BUSINESS’s ten songs, though surrounded by a world that pressures endlessly to consume and to conform. The title LOCAL BUSINESS speaks to this anti-consumerist agenda, but fear not; the contradiction of the LP as a consumer product speaking against consumerism will be discussed at length therein. The Emily White Band @ Eddie’s Attic
The Emily White Band members all live in the North Georgia Mountains, which has rich musical roots producing such talents as Zac Brown, Kurt Thomas, and Shawn Mullins to name just a few. Each member is an accomplished songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist in their own right which makes for concerts that are full of creativity and enthusiasm. With Emily White’s dusky vocals, she captures moments of life from the blush of first love to the passage of adulthood. Their music is both sweet and melancholy, yet still filled with the hope of youth.
Justin Furstenfeld @ Center Stage
Blue October frontman Justin Furstenfeld is on a solo tour dubbed “An Open Book: An Evening With Justin Furstenfeld Of Blue October” to promote the release of the expanded 3rd Edition of his book of lyrics and writings dubbed “Crazy Making” released April 1, 2013. The shows will consist of spoken word, rounded off with a question-and-answer session, and will also include an acoustic set of songs never before heard and intimate versions of favorites. The evening will focus on breaking down the walls of artist and audience and will provide fans the most access to Justin ever.

James Blake @ The Masquerade
Musically broad and emotionally deep, Overgrown as big as an advance on James’s eponymous 2011 debut. The growth is similar to the evolution that album evinced from the mercurial dubstep of his early EPs. It also reflects how much the 24-year-old Londoner’s life has changed in the past two years. His debut sold over 400,000 copies — quite a feat for a record so uncompromisingly introspective and experimental. It also picked up Mercury, BRIT and Ivor Novello nominations, sent him around the world on tour, and brought him into contact with a wide array of fans and collaborators that includes not only Mitchell but Jay-Z, Kanye West, Bon Iver, Björk, Drake, Brian Eno, and The RZA. Most importantly, touring the debut led him to meet his girlfriend, whose presence (and sometimes absence: she lives in Los Angeles) gives Overgrown its considerable emotional weight.
Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band @ Variety Playhouse
Josh Ritter has released five studio albums and has been recently named one of the 100 greatest living songwriters by Paste Magazine, alongside Dylan, Springsteen, and Neil Young. Joan Baez has covered one of his songs; Stephen King named one of Ritter’s albums the best of recent years and David Letterman has requested him twice, so far.
