We’ve got a great mix of concerts around the area tonight, including Robyn Hitchcock, and Nipsey Hussle, whose show which has been moved to the Loft by popular demand!
Nipsey Hussle w/ Erk the Jerk @ The Loft
He’s authentic – the offspring of the West Coast’s most celebrated talent – yet and still a novelty all his own. In an industry that’s fallen victim to bubble gum lyrics and erroneous dance fads to match, he’s the spokesperson the block wants for. He’s the very definition of Slauson & Crenshaw – a self-inspired movement and a name you can trust. He is Nipsey Hussle.
Robyn Hitchcock @ Eddie’s Attic
Such seeming contradictions are what make Hitchcock a credible narrator to his incredible kingdom of song, the one he’s built on a foundation of dreamlike, whimsical, tragic comedy and set to gorgeous and slightly askew melodies for the last 30 years. Through the years, those heavenly refrains, the harmonicas and the hilarity conspired and drew a blueprint for alternative pop as we know it. Is it any wonder he attracts stellar company when he settles in to make a record?
Doors open at 8pm. GA tickets are $20 in advance, or $24 at the door. Table seats are $25 in advance, $29 at the door, and must be purchased in multiples of 4. Online and phone sales close at 5pm.
Turbo Fruits w/ Special Guests @ 529
Clearly, the Turbo Fruits are not athletes. They are, however, a rock n roll band and one that could likely take your state rock & roll champion to the mat in less time than it takes to cue up a record. What the Nashville, Tennessee quartet lack in physical adeptness they make up for in wild abandon and unfettered debauchery; in buzzsaw guitars and pummeling, primal rhythms.
