It’s Tuesday Atlanta! There are some awesome shows and events happening tonight, so we’ll see you there! Check it out.
Speedy Ortiz @ 529
Since forming last year, Northampton, MA quartet Speedy Ortiz’s output has included an album and EP’s worth of fuzzy, sneery lo-fi home recordings, the slack and weighty double-A side “Taylor Swift” b/w “Swim Fan,” recorded by Paul Q. Kolderie (Pixies, Hole) and Justin Pizzoferrato (Dinosaur Jr., Thurston Moore), and their latest ‘Sports EP,’ a 5-track concept slugger out on 10″ vinyl (Exploding in Sound Records).
Minton Sparks with Special Guest, Ameilia White @ Eddie’s Attic
It’s mighty hard to envision singular performances by a poet and short story author, a character actor and a songwriter being offered on a single bill. That is, until one Minton Sparks takes the stage. For she is all three, a lean, literate livewire in a flower print church dress who balances writerly, theatrical and musical gifts as easily as she balances the prop pocketbook on her slender wrist.
Catch 23: Atlanta’s Friendliest Comedy Death Match @ The Earl
Catch 23 is an improvised Comedy Deathmatch. Three teams of improvisers battle it out in four rounds. They each have 23 minutes to use over the course of the night – no more; no less – with nothing but a 1 minute warning to guide them. Each scene is judged on a ten point scale with five points given by the audience and five by a hell judge.
ADAM ANT & The Good, The Mad & The Lovely Posse @ Center Stage
English icon, Adam Ant, is bringing his hits to Atlanta tonight! He’ll be performing songs off of his newest record, Adam Ant Is The Blueblack Hussar in Marrying The Gunner’s Daughter, as well as bringing back his older material! Don’t miss this legend while he’s in town!
The Rise of the Broken @ The Masquerade (Hell)
Their new album, “Stop Chasing Ghosts,” displays a more upbeat and an alternative derived sound. It portray themes and lyrics that one can relate themselves to from everyday life. “Stop Chasing Ghosts,” is an album that will hook you with their catchy tunes and relatable lyrics, and will make you feel like you’re not alone in situations you’re going through. Doors at 7pm. $7 ADV. All ages.
