It’s a gloomy Tuesday morning, but we’re not letting that get to us! There are some killer shows happening tonight in our beautiful city. Check it out!
Michael Mango, Pete Lim, Scott Thompson and Brian Wiltsey @ Eddie’s Attic
Spoon-fed his musicality from radio-loving parents, Michael wrote his first song at 14 and has never looked back. By today’s standards, you can compare him to the likes of David Gray and John Mayer, accented with a smooth voice reminiscent of Sting or Bono. His sound is an organic blend of rock, pop and soul, undeniably fresh and contagious.
The Shine Brothers w/ Abby Go Go @ The Earl
If The Everly Brothers were invited to The Birthday Party, The Shine Brothers, a liberal dose of melodic mayhem, would be the party favor. Waving the ‘psych-my-delic’ banner, The Shine Brothers achieve an alchemic balance of sunshine pop song structures and howling devilish rhythms, crowned by dirty woven vocal harmonies.
Frampton’s Guitar Circus: Peter Frampton with B.B. King & Sonny Landreth & Special Guest Larry Carlton @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre
Following the success of the 2011/2012 world tour celebrating the 35th Anniversary of his multi-platinum live album Frampton Comes Alive!, Peter Frampton is back on the road with Frampton’s Guitar Circus. Frampton will with acclaimed slide blues guitarist Sonny Landreth opening the show, followed by the legendary B.B. King. Each night, Frampton’s set will be recorded and subsequently sold in digital format only on http://www.fizzkicks.com/peterframpton.
Impalers (members of Hatred Surge), Manic, Mercenary, and Paradox @ 529
The Impalers are a ripping new band from Austin, TX, with Mike Sharp of Hatred Surge on drums and Chris Ulsh, the main man behind Mammoth Grinder, supplying everything else. Basically, if MG took more influence from Swedish d-beat instead of the Swedish death metal they’ve been aping on their last few releases, and Motörcharged the result, you would have this. The drums are at a pretty constant d-beat, the bass is nice and thick, the vocals sounds like modern-day MG, and the guitar chainsaws through everything.
