Happy Thursday music lovers! It’s a beautiful day out which means it’s going to be the perfect night to catch a show! We’ve got such a great lineup this evening it’s going to be hard to decide what to attend! Check it out below!
Tyler Lyle @ Eddie’s Attic
A self-described ‘old soul’, Tyler Lyle’s lyrics carry the weight and understanding that go far beyond his twenty-six years. A Transplant fom Atlanta, GA to Santa Monica, CA, Tyler Lyle has self-released four independent projects in the last three years. His latest album, The Golden Age & The Silver Girl, is a collection of songs written in and of the aftermath of a relationship. Recorded in one day, the day before Lyle boarded a plane for the superior California weather, the album is a singular statement; an over-exposed Polaroid of a point in time with affecting lyrics, carnival-esque folk production and an honest self-awareness that makes this an instantly relatable classic.
Oliver Mtukudzi & The Black Spirits @ Smith’s Olde Bar
Since 1975 when he started recording, Oliver Mtukudzi has produced 57 albums. His music has evolved from the exclusive use of modern electrical instruments to African traditional instruments like the mbira and marimba although his acoustic guitar still carries the Tuku Music trademark. Mtukudzi’s music has always been characterized by innuendos. He believes the power of art is the ability to communicate figuratively and still be understood universally. But the overriding theme in all his music is self-discipline – an outstanding human quality in Mtukudzi himself.
CD Release- N.I.K.K.I. Da Jukebox @ Smith’s Olde Bar
N.I.K.K.I. Da Jukebox’s goal is to set standards of excellence amongst her peers, because she has brought something new to the arenas; which are vocal arrangement styles that are outside of the box, coupled with harmony structures that are her own. Da Jukebox is destined to be a successful Pop icon. In her own words, “she is putting her claim to fame directly in the hands of the people that make the difference, which are music lovers and club goers.” Da Jukebox wrote and produced her EP that shows her uniqueness along with her partner C.I.U., who she co-owns the independent record label “The Bottom Line Entertainment (TBL-Ent).” Together they have produced, written or appeared on projects with major artists; (Bubba Sparxx, Goodie Mobb, Rock City), and video games, (Midway Sports: NBA Ballers & NBA Ballers Phenom), and songs for sports affiliates; (King of the Hoops).
Fight the Quiet @ Vinyl
Fight The Quiet is an Alternative Americana band formed in Flagstaff, Arizona by Nathan James (lead vocals, guitar). The lineup was completed with the addition of Christian Hayden (drums), Andy Pollitt (guitars), and Casey Reed (guitar, keyboards, vocals) during the production of their 2013 release, The City Below. The City Below can be described as an eccentric mix of The Killers, The Police, and Counting Crows. This latest effort from Fight The Quiet is not only a worthy successor to “Let Me In,” but a progression into the intricacy of American Pop.
Goatwhore @ The EARL
Emerging from the swamplands of New Orleans, Louisiana — a city rich with urban legends of voodoo curses, ghosts and murder — Goatwhore was formed in 1997 by guitarist Sammy Duet (Acid Bath, Crowbar, Ritual Killer etc.). Influenced by the raw savagery of bands like Venom and Celtic Frost, their unrefined, fuck-all approach to black metal first revealed on the Serenades To The Tides Of Blood demo and expanded upon on the now legendary Eclipse Of Ages Into Black debut nearly a decade ago earned the band instant underground credibility. A Haunting Curse is their most maniacal offering yet. More furious than its gloomier predecessor, A Haunting Curse fused the tenets of traditional black metal with gritty, thrash-based riffing, machinegun blasts, rabid pace shifts and Falgoust’s possessive snarl.
Reckless Kelly @ Peachtree Tavern
For fifteen years Reckless Kelly has been doing things their way, bucking the mainstream system and playing by their own rules, straddling the fence between country and rock as if they built it themselves. Throughout the years their old school approach to recording has always adhered to one main objective: make each record better than the last. With new music out, this is sure to be a heck of a show!
Amanda Miller & Core Performance @ The Goat Farm
Tanz Farm: a Performance Anthology, rounds out its inaugural season with performances by American born Choreographer Amanda Miller, founding artist of Germany’s Pretty Ugly Dance Co, and Atlanta’s CORE Performance which has been creating and performing innovative contemporary dance since 1980.
Phoenix @ The Tabernacle
Phoenix just dropped their fifth album, Bankrupt! and their rockin’ out on tour! Hopefully you scored your tickets before the show SOLD OUT!
