Rising Atlanta band Kickin’ Valentina is creating quite a buzz and has already established a rabid fan base. With a little bit of sleaze, a little bit of blues, and a whole lot attitude, Kickin’ Valentina has secured their place in the Southeast and is quickly gaining attention and traction across the U.S. and overseas. The band has already performed with artists as diverse as Pop Evil, Eve To Adam, and Queensryche, and their first single “Get Ready” is already a fan favorite on radio stations around the world, and one of the top requested songs on Hard Rock Nights and Canada’s Rock X Radio.

Jonathan Richman has been writing songs, making records, and performing live for most of his life, winning fans and making friends around the world with his guileless honesty and playfully catchy compositions. He’s revered by countless fellow artists, and has built a remarkably loyal international audience through his tireless touring. Local H w/ special guests @ The EARL
Hallelujah! I’m A Bum is the seventh studio album from the pioneering two-man, Chicago band Local H, who are known for their gut-quaking live shows and incredibly loyal fanbase. It’s an epic concept record that sees frontman Scott Lucas setting his sights on the deeply divided political climate that exists in the U.S. and around the world, using his hometown as a backdrop to sardonically comment on how this polarization personally impacts people within their communities, their neighborhoods and even within their relationships.

Music for Tomorrow @ Eddie’s Attic
Music for tomorrow is a non-profit band booking service that enables users to find musicians and musicians to find gigs. Their success is measured by the number of gigs for musicians that they can help to create. Music for Tomorrow launched in 2006, to help jazz musicians return to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, and now they are helping musicians find more performance opportunities all over the country.
The opening act for this evening with be the Rialto Youth Jazz Orchestra Members. RYJO allows Metro Atlanta’s best young musicians between the ages of 13 and 18 to experience jazz in an immersive, educational environment.
The second act will feature Tyrone Jackson, a New Orleans native who truly embodies the spirit of the Crescent City with blends of jazz, funk, and afro-carribean melodies in his work. Jackson has performed with the greats such as Wynton Marsalis, Earl Klugh, Melba Moore, Branford Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon, Vincent Gardner, Joe Lovano, and Dave Douglas.
The third act will close out with accomplished jazz vocalist, Audrey Shakir. She has worked extensively in New York City, studied vocal improvisation with famed jazz pianist Barry Harris, and was even nominated for the 1992 Coca-Cola Music Award for “Best Blues Artist”.

Race @ Southwest Arts Center
Two high-profile lawyers- one black, one white, are called to defend a wealthy white client charged with the rape of an African American woman. When a new legal assistant gets involved in the case, the opinions that boil beneath explode to the surface. They quickly find themselves embroiled in a complex case where blatant prejudice is as disturbing as the evidence at hand.
Race will be running at the Southwest Arts Center through March 23rd.
