We’re all gearing up for the weekend here at Atlanta Music Guide! In the mean time, we’re also really stoked for these shows tonight! We have some killer performances going on at some of our favorite neighborhood bars as well as some awesome larger venues! Check out the lineup below!
Diane Durrett with Heather Luttrell & Steff Mahan @ Eddie’s Attic
With a blend of raw soulful vocals, sultry tones and strong original songs Durrett has sung with Sting, The Indigo Girls, Gregg Allman, Chuck Leavell (Rolling Stones) and Peter Stroud (Sheryl Crow). Durrett has opened shows for Tina Turner, Faith Hill, Little Feat, Delbert McClinton, Jimmy Hall and Derek Trucks. As well lending her vocals to recording sessions for Grammy award winning producer Brendan O’Brien. Durrett is a down-to-earth-diva. She sings from her soul, writes with heart and humor. Diane brings her southern wit and charm to every event. She’s pure entertainment!
Dangermuffin @ Smith’s Olde Bar
Five years and four albums into a career that’s found them drawing circles around the lower 48, building a burgeoning national fan base, Dangermuffin embodies a curious paradox. The themes found within their striking new collection, Olly Oxen Free, sum up that juxtaposition. Dangermuffin can no longer be plainly dubbed an Americana or roots-rock band. Behind the virtuosic rhythms of drummer Steven Sandifer, the group seamlessly segues from calypso to world beat to a down-home shuffle, often within the same song. One might venture to call it Southern rock, but by the time songwriter Dan Lotti sings the first words of another verse with his unmistakable light rasp, the listener is undeniably back on the beach, pondering both the world’s pleasures and ills through sandy toes.
Register to WIN a PAIR of tickets to the show tonight!
Superhumanoids with Gossamer @ The EARL
A fascination for electronic sounds, instruments, pedals, and more, aesthetically united Max, Sarah, and Cameron of Superhumanoids. Like a petri dish growing each day, the band spent their time together intertwining and experimenting with their R&B upbringings and love for pop music. Despite being wrapped in an electronic blanket, the trio unravels each song’s core to take the listener on a journey that highlights the living R&B undertones and driving groove that brings to light the soul of their record, Exhibitionists.
