It’s Thursday, y’all! I don’t know about you, but I CANNOT wait for this weekend! Between Midsummer Fest with Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, Con Funk Shun and The SOS Band at the Amphitheatre at Riverdale, and Old School Saturday, this weekend is bound to rock! Let’s not forget about the awesome shows we’ve got going on tonight though! Check out the schedule below!
Two Gallants w/ Broncho @ The EARL
The Bloom and the Blight is the work of a band that has matured and redefined itself, and the album is imbued with a palpable sense of personal catharsis. The songs have a dark side and a dynamic sonic heft, yet a sense of salvation and resolve courses throughout: an urgent, emotional poignancy stemming in part from Stephens’ recovery from a serious van accident in 2010.
Carrie Rodriguez @ Eddie’s Attic
It’s not too late to register to WIN tickets! At each stage of Carrie Rodriguez’s career—as a fiddler, singer, and songwriter—the Austin, Texas, native has learned the importance of letting go. That was certainly true when it came to recording her fifth solo album, Give Me All You Got, her first of largely original tunes in several years. Come hear Carrie belt out her new tunes tonight at Eddie’s!
Eric Lindell & The Sunliners @ Vinyl
Eric Lindell writes music that is as at home on your front porch on a summer evening as it is in a hot sweaty club on a Saturday night. It is southern soul music, infused with R&B and a touch of New Orleans funk. It is blues music, glazed with a taste of country. It is simple, heartfelt song writing; melodic guitar solos and energized live performance.
The Railers / Eric Dodd @ Smith’s Olde Bar
By combining personal lyrics, air tight harmonies and earthy instrumentation using Mandolin, Violin, Concertina, and Acoustic Guitar and percussion, the group melts their energetic songs with classic groundbreaking styles of the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Dixie Chicks, Nickel Creek and Bonnie Raitt, leaving audiences with an undeniable sound and unforgettable live show.
Say Anything with Eisley @ The Masquerade
Say Anything has been making odd, unclassifiable indie rock music since they were 14 or 15 years old, playing strangely literate and loud rock, characterized by what one might imagine if Larry David fronted a Fugazi cover band with the members of Queen. Say Anything has toured heavily with other weird bands such as Thrice, Manchester Orchestra, mewithoutYou, Saves the Day, Biffy Clyro and Eisley, among many others, and has established themselves as one of the few bands nowadays who end up as sweaty, busted up and bruised after a show as the people who are actually watching them.
Check out our exclusive interview with Eisley! They’ll be opening up for Say Anything!
