What’s Up Thursday? April 4th

Marcus FosterRain, rain go away! This Atlanta weather may not be too exciting, but tonight’s lineup is awesome! We’ve got a huge variety of music this evening. Love rock?! Love indie folk?! Or maybe you’re looking for something a bit heavier? Yep! It’s all happening tonight! Look no further than the list below to find the perfect show for you!

Marcus Foster @ Eddie’s Attic

After contributing one song to the first Twilight soundtrack in 2008, his popularity with audiences in the U.S. and Europe developed exponentially. By the middle of 2010, Foster had already racked up over a million hits on his MySpace page, while his Twitter account was followed in the tens of thousands. As a testament to his constantly growing demand in the in the U.S., Foster was invited to perform on the Jimmy Fallon Show performing with The Roots. Throughout his songs there is a broad spectrum of echoes and reference to artists as diverse as Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, D´Angelo, Tom Waits, Prince, Otis Reading, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and, more recently, St. Vincent.

Tickets are SOLD OUT! Hopefully you scored yours!

Ben Trickey @ The Earl

Ben Trickey is an Atlanta-based singer-songwriter. In 2009 after being chosen by critics as the Best Local Singer/Songwriter, Creative Loafing said, “When Ben Trickey strums and sings about the dark, emotional side of life as an imperfect man, you believe him. The characters and narratives in his songs resonate with somber timelessness, scorched tones and dirty production qualities that add depth to his frail and frazzle arrangements.” With an indie rock and folk sound, this is a local you won’t want to miss!

Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit @ Brewhouse Music & Grill

Singer/songwriter Jason Isbell will be rockin’ out tonight with his band The 400 Unit! If you love rock with a little country twang than this is the show for you!

The Last Waltz Ensemble @ Smith’s Olde Bar

The Last Waltz Ensemble is a musical group that progressively plays the music of Bob Dylan and The Band. The group bolsters a playlist of over a “hundred” Bob Dylan, The Band, and related tunes, covering music from all eras of the artists’ careers. From The Hawks to the Basement Tapes to The Last Waltz and beyond, the group plays traditional and original arrangements in an improvisational jam band format, never playing the same set list twice.

Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell @ Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre

Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell had been meaning to get around to recording together for a long time – about three decades. The duo (who are multiple Grammy award winners in their own rights) finally made the time, and will soon release their first official collaboration since Crowell played in Harris’ Hot Band in 1975, Old Yellow Moon. Crowell compares the sound to the Southern California country rock of Linda Ronstadt, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Gram Parsons, and Harris and The Hot Band. Richard Thompson Electric Trio will be playing as well!

Fartherout.com @ The Drunken Unicorn

If being chosen as the IndieATL Audience Pick for 2013 isn’t cool enough, this band rocked out at SXSW this year too! Come show your support for some killer tunes!

Nile @ The Masquerade

Are you in to Technical Death Metal?! Look no further! The heavy metal band, Nile, is playing in Hell at the Masquerade tonight! Check them out!
