November still has brought some nice days to Atlanta, and there are some great events tonight to help you gear up for your weekend. Here is what’s going on tonight.
-All the hair, all the vocals, and all the 80s music you can handle will be at The 120 Tavern & Music Hall at 8 p.m. Kick start your weekend with The Breakfast Club, one of the most recognized 80s tribute bands in the nation.
–Ben Trickey will be teaming up with Brandon Schmitt at 8:30 p.m. at The EARL. Come to enjoy a cozy and intimate session with the folky Atlanta native and his soothing guitar.
-Another indie choice for you tonight, but this one is at Smiths Olde Bar at 8 p.m. with Enter the Haggis. Originally from Toronto, the band brings its indie-folk sound all the way to the south complete with fiddles, harmonicas, bagpipes, and more. Stick around after the show too, the guys have a habit of hanging around to chat with fans until well after the performance.
-Head over to Peachtree Tavern for something a little different with Jessta James at 10 p.m. Rising star Jessta James has fused country and hip-hop with what he has called “hick-hop”.
-Also playing at Smiths Olde Bar at 8 p.m. is Stephane Wrembel. Hailing all the way from France, Wrembel brings his well known jazz-guitar performance to Atlanta. He wrote the theme track for a Woody Allen film, has recorded several albums, studied in Paris, and is now bringing all of that to Atlanta. Also, he learned how to play from the Gypsies in France, who wouldn’t want to see that for themselves?
–Tom Russell takes over Eddie’s Attic at 7:30 p.m. to perform his classic Texas country music. With years of experience, his music has been acknowledged by many. Johnny Cash himself even recorded some of Russell’s songs. With that said, you know his show at the intimate venue will be one to remember.
