–Walk Off The Earth is at Center Stage tonight…it will be packed, get there early.
-You might not be aware of Trixie Whitely, but she certainly has made a name for herself. In late 2008, legendary producer Daniel Lanois (U2, Bob Dylan, Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel, Neil Young) contacted Trixie and invited her to the Berklee School of Music, where he was in residence. Their stunning collaboration of Trixie’s song “I’d Rather Go Blind” – with drummer Brian Blade (Joni Mitchell, Wayne Shorter, Joshua Redman) – was filmed and started to create an immediate buzz in music circles. Soon, with the addition of bassist Daryl Johnson (The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, the Neville Brothers), a super group – Daniel Lanois’ Black Dub – was born. -Last year I saw The Lumineers open for the Truth & Salvage Co. This is some of LA’s finest Hotel Cafe musicians, and there are back at Smith’s Olde Bar.
-Oklahoma’s JD McPherson mines the roots of rockabilly combined with some classic rhythm and blues. Catch him tonight at The Earl.
-Love, Love, Love me some Ms. Willie Brown! They are bringing their sass to The Tie One on Tour at The 120 Tavern & Music Hall.
-Even though it’s cold outside, you should still be pretty interested in these Tanlines. The Brooklyn duo is at The Basement at Graveyard Tavern.
