Happy Monday Atlanta! It is a VERY happy Monday because, surprisingly, the sun is peeking out of the clouds this morning! Fingers crossed it stays that way! There is one upside to it being rainy, though. It is the perfect weather to visit one of your favorite music venues to see a show! Check out what’s going on tonight.
Matt Pond with Matrimony @ The Earl
Matt Pond has already accomplished what few rarely do. A career musician with a die-hard following that continues to grow with each album, and a resume that includes the title song for a motion picture soundtrack, a long running Starbucks holiday commercial with a hook that’s always stuck in our heads, selling over 100,000 albums to date; his success is matched only by his prolific outpouring of talent.
With the new album, The Lives Inside the Lines in Your Hand, Matt Pond is stepping forward with striking honesty and humbling optimism and delivers his strongest work to date. And with this transformative record comes some distinct changes- removing the ‘PA’ that has accompanied his name for nearly a decade, his first official ‘solo’ release, and partnering with new label and longtime publishing partner, BMG.
Songwriter’s Open Mic @ Eddie’s Attic
For over 19 years, Eddie’s Attic has hosted Atlanta’s premiere SONGWRITER’S OPEN MIC for the performing songwriter. National and local acts perform 2 songs each, with 3 finalists returning for a third song at the end of the evening for a chance to win a cash prize and a spot in the bi-annual, nationally acclaimed Open Mic Shootout. This is a great opportunity for up and coming talent to hone their skills and for listeners to see and meet tomorrow’s stars.
Jack Daniel’s Honey Concert Series @ Smith’s Olde Bar
Enjoy a night of live music featuring The Luke Cunningham Band (8pm), Scott Mulvahill (9pm) and Eric Sommer (10pm)! Grab your friends and come out to your favorite neighborhood bar tonight!
La Luz, Burnt Ones and Carmen @ 529
Featuring Shana Cleveland (guitar), Marian Li Pino (drums), Abbey Blackwell (bass), and Alice Sandahl (keyboards); the group brings a relaxed beach-babe vibe to their take on the sweet, thick harmonies of 60’s girl-group, garage, and doo-wop bands. Born in the Summer of 2012, La Luz is driven by thumping, energetic bass lines, danceable surf beats, trembling organ, reverb-soaked guitar, and a wild love of rock ‘n’ roll. This show is FREE so come on out, enjoy the music and grab some ice-cold beers!
