Sometimes Monday’s suck. Here are a few shows to help keep your spirits up.
Eugene Mirman w/ Derrick Brown @ Erikson Clock
Eugene was named Best New York City Comedian by the Village Voice, one of “50 Funniest” by Time Out New York, and one of the 10 best comedians of the last decade by Paste Magazine. He’s released three comedy albums (the last two on Sub Pop records) and an incredibly funny parody-ish self-help book, The Will to Whatevs. Named by Roling Stone as “Hot Twitterer,” Eugene also keeps his 255k+ followers entertained daily.
Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are $18. Online and phone sales end at 4pm.
Songwriter’s Open Mic @ Eddie’s Attic
For over 19 years, Eddie’s Attic has hosted Atlanta’s premiere Songwriter’s Open Mic for the performing songwriter. National and local acts perform 2 songs each, with 3 finalists returning for a third song at the end of the evening for a chance to win a cash prize and a spot in the bi-annual, nationally acclaimed Open Mic Shootout. This is a great opportunity for up and coming talent to hone their skills and for listeners to see and meet tomorrow’s stars.
Doors open at 7:00pm. Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door. Tables with 4 reserved seats are $25. Online and phone sales end at 5pm.
Yuck w/ Special Guests @ the EARL
Yuck’s new album, Glow & Behold – a dreamy, pristine suite of swooning, shifting tremolo tones, salutary trumpet, happy/sad harmonies, dulcet and heroic guitar and exquisitely melancholic pop songcraft – marks a graduation from the giddy innocence of Yuck’s self-titled 2011 debut, to something more ambitious, more mature, more powerfully affecting.
Doors open at 8:30pm. Tickets are $12. Online and phone sales end at 6pm.
