Happy Monday y’all! Spring has sprung and man, is it beautiful outside or what?! Tonight is going to be awesome because we have a great variety of shows going on! From smaller bars like The Basement, 529 and The Earl, to big arenas like Philips, we have a venue and a show that you’ll enjoy! Check out the lineup below!
King Khan & BBQ Show @ The Basement at Graveyard Tavern
It’s hard to tell if the King Khan & BBQ Show is more famous than they are infamous. Since the 2004 release of their first self-titled debut, the King Khan & BBQ Show has earned itself a place in rock’ n’ roll history by inspiring both insanity (fervor for the band’s live show has occasionally manifested itself as live sex acts) and critical reverence.
The King Khan & BBQ show’s long-awaited 3rd full-length album, Invisible Girl, will disappoint neither the band’s critical admirers nor their devoted cult following. Invisible Girl marks a return to the trade-mark Doo-Wop-laced, anthemic garage rock that earned the band both their fame and infamy.
METZ @ 529
METZ play like one brutally heavy instrument with three heads, slashing heavy-gauge strings, bending guitar and bass necks in weird unison, along with what is probably the loudest drumming you’ve ever heard. It’s a return to everything that’s good about loud, ecstatic live music; a frantic nod to Nation of Ulysses, Shellac, The Pixies, The Jesus Lizard, and Public Image Ltd. at their most vicious, while still carving out some heavy new business. They play the instruments, the amps, and the room.
Snarky Puppy @ The Earl
Snarky Puppy delivers raw funk and sensitive dynamics, relentless pocket and lyrical melodicism, lush harmony and soulful simplicity, and most importantly, a delicate mixture of composition and improvisation. Snarky Puppy turned a very definitive corner in 2012. The band released the critically-acclaimed live, in-studio DVD groundUP, which immediately soared to #3 on the ITUNES jazz charts and #14 on Billboard. Shortly after, YouTube views skyrocketed to over 1.5 million combined.
Songwriter’s Open Mic @ Eddie’s Attic
For over 19 years, Eddie’s Attic has hosted Atlanta’s premiere Songwriter’s Open Mic for the performing songwriter. National and local acts perform 2 songs each, with 3 finalists returning for a third song at the end of the evening for a chance to win a cash prize and a spot in our bi-annual, nationally acclaimed Open Mic Shootout. This is a great opportunity for up and coming talent to hone their skills and for listeners to see and meet tomorrow’s stars.
Jack Daniel’s Honey Concert Series @ Smith’s Olde Bar
Live music from The Groves (9pm) and 5 by 5 (10pm)! Bring your friends, grab some drinks and enjoy!
Rihanna @ Philips Arena
Seven-time Grammy award winner, Rihanna, hits the stage at Philips Arena tonight! Come dance and sing along to her chart-topping R&B/pop songs!
Youngblood Hawke @ The Masquerade
Youngblood Hawke captures the sound of 5 friends in mid-journey. It is the snapshot of a state of mind where, one mountain has been climbed, and there are more in the distance. But for right now, the view is beautiful.
