What’s Up in Atlanta this Monday!
Ex Hex w/ Birds of Avalon @ Drunken Unicorn
Ex Hex is an all female D.C. based indie rock trio that formed in 2013. The band, consisting of Mary Timony (formerly of Autoclave and then Helium), Betsy Wright, and Laura Harris, released their debut album Rips in October of 2014. Rips is a collection of perfectly lean power-pop tunes that evoke Tom Petty and the Runaways while conjuring the unruly energy of contemporary mid-fi bashers like Thee Oh Sees.
Tickets are $12. Doors open at 9pm.
Songwriters Open Mic Night @ Eddie’s Attic
Over 20 years strong, Eddie’s Attic Songwriter’s Open Mic Night is one of the most renowned open mic nights in Atlanta. National and local acts perform 2 songs each, with 3 finalists returning for a third song at the end of the evening for a chance to win a cash prize and a spot in the venue’s bi-annual, nationally acclaimed Open Mic Shootout. This is a great opportunity for up and coming talent to hone their skills and for listeners to see and meet the next big stars
Tickets are $5 in advance, $6 at the door. Doors open at 7pm.
