The weekend is almost here, and much needed! It’s the calm before the storm for many families, so take advantage of this leisurely weekend and pop into a show or two! Soon we’ll be drowning in turkey and up to our elbows in pumpkin pie! I’m exhausted already!
Friday, November 16th-Jen Foster and Antigone Rising at Eddie’s Attic
As an award winning pop singer/songwriter, Jen Foster has created quite a following and has also been featured on MTV’s The Hills. She recently released “You Stayed” which is a tribute to her fans. Antigone Rising, the female rock band, will be joining Foster at Eddie’s Attic this weekend.
Friday, November 16th-Stereomonster with the FountNHead at The EARL
Stereomonster is another fusion of sorts. Made up of four Georgia natives, they are part rap, part guitar, and part slappy bass. They pull inspiration from everywhere, and then mesh it into their own sound. Joining them at The EARL is The FountNHead, an alternative hip-hop group also from Atlanta.
Friday, November 16th-Nathan Angelo at Smith’s Olde Bar
A commercial spin on soul-infused pop, Nathan’s latest project Follow Your Heart (2011) emerges as his strongest work to date. Laced with both whimsy and candor, songs like “Love Is On the Line,” “Make Up Your Mind,” “Forgetting You” and “Hurt Me” treat the intricacies and frustrations of youth and relationships with due weight yet have a playfulness that lightens the situation.

Quiet Hounds, the Canadian indie rockers, released their album An Ode to Lost Souls. Their newest album is sweet sounding melodies match the small, semi-quirky band. The eccentric band wears animal masks in their videos and has made that mask part of their performance and repertoire. Everything just screams simplicity (other than the masks), and the unique band takes a new spin on indie rock and folk music.
Saturday, November 17th-Fly South Music Festival at the Allman Brothers Band Museum at the Big House
This southern rock music festival boasts five bands including Mathis Brothers, the Josh Graff Band, Lingo, Flannel Church, and St. Francis. The festival begins mid-afternoon, and goes well into the night for your money’s worth of music.
Saturday, November 17th-Dirty Dozen Brass Band at Smiths Olde Bar
The Dirty Dozen Brass Band out of New Orleans, is a veteran of the music industry after having celebrated their 35th anniversary. They have kept up the classic New Orleans jazz while also modernizing it, and even including a Rihanna cover in one of their albums. They have been loved by everyone including the jam band lovers at Bonnaroo and devoted jazz enthusiasts alike.

For over two decades, Rosie Flores has been touring the country and making a name for herself. She has been featured on Conon O’Brien as well as SNL. The singer has also won the LA Weekly Music Award for Best Rockability Swing Artist. With her amount of expertise, her performance at Smiths Olde Bar will be near perfection.
