“She is full of fervor, and he is the soothing counterforce. They are a pairing of equals, a key finding its lock.” —The New York Times
The New York Times isn’t the only one singing the praises of Johnnyswim, it seems their name is on most everyone’s lips. Johnnyswim is a two-piece outfit that is made up of Amanda Sudano and Abner Ramirez. The twosome has a unique way of combining folk, soul, blues and pop. The music of this husband and wife duo flows with beautiful harmonies with powerful, rustic instrumentals to back.
Since they were young, it seems both members of the band were destined for musical greatness. Ramirez spent his early years studying music at the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in Jacksonville, Florida. While Sudano is the daughter of renowned singer/songwriter Donna Summers. The couple met in a coffee shop in Nashville, where they’re currently based, and were married in 2009.
Currently Johnnyswim is touring around the country and lucky for us, they’ll be in Athens, Georgia at the Georgia Theater on September 23rd. Tickets are going fast for this show, so get your tickets now.
