Aaron Bruno of AWOLNATION talked with us at AMG before his performance at the third week of Winter Wonder Jam at Atlantic Station. The electronic rock band is signed with Red Bull Records, meaning their performance will be anything but low energy. Their music has been featured on Sons of Anarchy and Vampire Diaries, and has even hit Top 10 on Billboard Rock Songs. See what they had to say below!
What is the strangest thing a fan has done for you? or at your show?
I think it’s strangely amazing to have fans at all. I feel very blessed. For some reason, I have signed several fans faces. That always blows my mind.
What is the funniest moment you have had as an artist/band so far?
Too many to recall. On stage, we have these ” talk back ” microphones that only we, can hear. That is constantly pushing us to outdo each other.
Do you have any pre-show rituals?
Not really, I try to be alone.
If you could describe your music in one word, what would it be?
I really can’t. That would go against the whole sound and what has made it stand out.
How do you connect with a crowd?
I just think the intentions and spirit behind the songs really come through in a live atmosphere.
How did you come up with your band name?
It started as a joke when I would battle rap my silly friends. I attached Nation to it when it became serious and sincere to me. It is an escape from day to day life with no explanation.
What is the best way to write music?
Everyone is different. Personally, I try to let it come as natural as possible.
