Pictures & Review by Deidra Pinion
It was a clear, perfect night to be at Eddie’s Attic. It was a cozy atmosphere, with tables lined with lit candles, which set the mood for Pat Mcgee, from Richmond, VA. He stepped onto stage with Chardy McEwan, another band member. Chardy sat down on what appeared to be just an ordinary wooden box, however, to the audience’s amazement, Chardy played a percussion drum beat on it for the show’s entirety. He opened up with “Elizabeth”, which the crowd loved. Another crowd favorite, “Rebecca”, followed.
In between songs, Pat told stories about his traveling. From having his wheels on his suitcase break, to teaching a songwriting class at his daughter’s school, for 1st and 3rd graders, and he had the audience filled with laughter with the way he told his stories. He played a couple of songs from the class, which was adorable! He then spoke of an upcoming Navy tour, although he cannot disclose the location. He is very excited and anxious about the tour. He began talking about our men and women overseas, and then played “Come Back Home”, an armed forces tribute. It was very moving, and reminds me why I am so grateful to our men and women in uniform.
He played such a great cover of “Love the One Your With”, which had the audience singing along, and dancing in their seats. An audience member requested “Beautiful Ways”, from his Drive by Romance album, and to end the show, he asked her to come to the front of the audience, and gave an up close performance of the song.
His latest album, No Wrong Way to Make it Right, is available on iTunes. He has an amazing show coming up, called “Down the Hatch”, which takes place on the beach of the outer banks of North Carolina. The show is June 6-8th, with an incredible line up of performers! Emily Hearn, who was on the stage before Pat, is part of the lineup of performers. The information for the show is on his Pat McGee’s website, but he encouraged everyone to act fast, because it is almost sold out.
