News Headlines (to submit news click here)

Every summer for the past seven years, local music fans, bands, and industry alike invade Atlanta's popular venues and bars for the Southeast's largest music conference. Held this year from July 21 - July 24th, the Atlantis Music Conference combines artist showcases that features some of the nation's most promising unsigned acts, along with panels headed by top music industry professionals. Panelists this year include Matt Serletic (Chairman/CEO Virgin Records), keynote address speaker Steve Gottlieb (President TVT Records), Brad Arnold of 3 Doors Down , and speakers from Sony Music, Clear Channel, Jive Records, Dreamworks/Interscope, ASCAP, BMI, 99X, Q100, HITS Magazine, and more. Throughout three days, over 300 performers, ranging from R&B and Hip-Hop to Singer/Songwriters and Hard Rockers, will showcase all over the city at 10 High, Vinyl, Hard Rock Cafe', Cotton Club, Masquerade, Smith's Olde Bar, and more. For more information, visit www.atlantismusic.com. To see our preview of this year's Atlantis Music Conference along with our showcase picks, click here.

Featured Atlantis Music Conference Showcases
Thursday July 22 - ASCAP Showcase - Smith's Olde Bar (8:00pm)

Arrive early to this showcase Thursday night, as this showcase will be packed. Singer/songwriter Clay Cook, who co-wrote several songs off of John Mayer's "Room For Squares" album opens up the night at 8pm. Athens, GA based band The Whigs have made an impact on the music scene since they won last year's Open Mic Madness. The Brit rock-esque melodies of Red Letter Agent have made them one of the most buzzworthy bands in the city, while Trances Arc's straight-ahead, lyrically driven rock has made them one of Atlanta's favorite local acts. Tennessee hard rockers Laws Rushing play as well.

Friday July 23 - Star Bar (9:00pm)
Rowdy Records (Dallas Austin's record label) artists Dropsonic perform, along with Led Zeppelin admirers and Music Midtown 2004 performers The Tom Collins. The pop/punk sound of Lights Out is catchy and witty enough to separate them from the crowd of Blink-182 carbon copies. A Fir-Ju Well's most recent release, 'El Torero', is an eclectic blend of rock that draws comparisons from The Flaming Lips to Ween. This showcase will be one of the last times to catch singer/songwriter David Roland in Atlanta, as he will soon be re-locating to New York.

Saturday July 24 - 99X New Rock Showcase - Velvet Underground (8:00pm)
After scoring an opening slot for Jet & The Vines, Second Shift has quickly become one of Atlanta's popular acts. The ladies (and guy) of Avenge Vegas blend their influences like The Cure and Radiohead to create a unique and rockin' sound. Linger is a three piece known for their full sound and solid live show, bounding with energy. If you're into Muse, then you will love them. Although Y-O-U co-wrote and produced the hilarious Homestar Runner 'Strong Bad Sings' CD, their talent exceeds humor and has landed them opening slots for bands ranging from Rooney to the Black Eyed Peas. To Whom it Concerns were the winners of last summer's Miller Lite/99X Band Search, and the winners (not yet determined) of 99X's Sunday School Band Contest will open up the showcase. Tickets for this showcase are available in advance at www.ticketalternative.com.
