On October 21st, DJ Wally makes his Blue Series debut with Nothing Stays the Same, featuring not just your usual breakbeats, but it's got your trad jazz as well. Groovy, man. The superb Rodney Crowell puts out his 11th album, Fate's Right Hand (Epic) on August 26th and will play at Variety Playhouse on September 14th. If you care at all about songwriting, buy the album and go to the show.

Athens band The Possibilities now have new videos and MP3s on their website www.thepossibilities.org. Way Out is the most recent album, and since then they have ammased an absurd amount of unreleased material, somewhere around 20 CDs worth. Anyone that prolific deserves at least a second glance.

The Festival sponsored by 97 Estoria and the Sorted Group, will kick off Friday night with a bike parade and tattoo show. The main day, Saturday, will feature bands (A Fir Ju Well and Cadillac Jones already confirmed) and DJ's in the parking lot of 97 Estoria, followed by a mimosa brunch on Sunday. The BellRays will return to Atlanta next month, playing at the Echo Lounge on September 23rd. They are supporting Raw Collection (Uppercut) and will preview their upcoming release The Red White & Black. Opening the show will be The Flash Express who have been described as "sweat drenched, sunglasses-at-night punk/soul scorch with an unrelenting bootie-shaking beat." Their debut CD is Introducing the Dynamite Sound of The Flash Express (Hit It Now! Records) with the LP version coming out on Uppercut any day now.

Trailer BrideAlso returning to town is Trailer Bride, playing at the Earl on September 6th and putting out a new album on the 23rd called Hope is a Thing With Feathers (Bloodshot). Rockpile described this band as "off-kilter...surreal." Full details about the gig at www.badearl.com .

On August 19th, Damone will play at the Cotton Club, along with Hey Mercedes and Sense Field. Fresh off the Warped Tour, the band is getting attention for its "new-wave abandon and skate-punk frivolity." Their RCA debut, From The Attic, came out in May and Rolling Stone gave it a 3-star review.

The Florida Music Festival returns to Orlando next April, and is similar in many ways to our just concluded Atlantis. Bands and DJs are encouraged to sign up. Full details at www.floridamusicfestival.com
