'GET OUT AND ABOUT' with the Atlanta Music Guide - Join us July 1st at Vinyl for our first 'Get Out and About' social from 6-8pm. Come talk to us, other music fans, bands, and industry people, and see what we've been up to. We'll be spinning local music, and there will be free cocktails as well...Need we say more?

Competition Time !! Keane and Lollapalooza - We've got 2 pairs of tickets to giveaway to see the band Keane at the Cotton Club on Friday June 18th. The Grand Prize winner will win 2 tickets and an autographed copy of their brilliant debut CD Hopes and Fears. The 2nd place winner will receive 2 tickets and an autographed poster, and the 3rd place winner will receive an autographed 7". As the beginning of a lot more awesome things to come, the Atlanta Music Guide introduces a new segment in our features section - Day-Tripper. Open Mic Madness is now accepting applications for 2004. The event will take place August 16-21 at Smith's Olde Bar . The single elimination tournament gives musicians and artists, regardless of genre, a chance to battle it out through their songs until only one act remains. The judges are comprised of a panel of music industry professionals, and the act that wins gets an incredible prize package, which includes recording time with producer Don McCollister , a performance & cabins on the 2004 Rock Boat , CD printing by On4 Productions, and much more. Previous winners include Bain Mattox and The Whigs , who are both headlining the finals along with Y-O-U . Bands can apply at www.openmicmadness.com.

The lineup for 99X 's Upstart Fest has been announced. The concert will be held at the Masquerade Music Park on July 10 and features bands that are 'Sunday School' favorites, such as Auf der Maur , Sahara Hotnights , and Jem . Locals Five-Eight and JaD will also perform, along with Mitch Allan of SR-71. Tickets go on sale Friday June 18th at 10am.www.99x.com
