The Atlanta Film Festival kicks off June 11 and lasts until June 20. The festival includes the Atlanta premiere of Last Goodbye, directed by POPfilms' Jacob Gentry and stars David Carradine, Clementine Ford, Chris Rydell, and Faye Dunaway. The movie chronicles the lives of an actress, a rock star, a groupie, and more as they struggle for something to believe in. Last Goodbye was shot in Atlanta in the Summer of 2003 and features familiar locations such as the Masquerade and the 99X/Q100 studios. Local musician JT Hall (Butch Walker, Joe Stark, Owen Beverly) composed the score for the film, and the soundtrack features music from Owen Beverly, tracks produced by Danger Mouse, and others. Singer/songwriter Clay Cook also appears in the film. The Last Goodbye premieres Saturday, June 12 at 8pm at The Rialto. A reception at The Jazz Loft (201 Courtland St.) will follow. The kickoff party for the 2004 Atlantis Music Conference has been announced. The 99X/Brash Bash at eleven50 will be hosted by Leslie Fram and Ryan Cameron . Admittance is allowed to all Atlantis registrants and wristband holders. The music conference, which is in its seventh year, differentiates itself from others (such as SXSW ) by focusing on independent acts and giving artists the opportunity to not only learn about the industry and network, but typical music fans are also given the chance to discover hundreds of burgeoning artists for a low price. Previous showcase artists include John Mayer, Maroon 5, and Injected. See which bands will be the 'next big things' this year. www.atlantismusic.com

Summer is always filled with massive tours, but this year, they're worth going to. Thousands of black clothing-clad, hipster music fans will endure the sweltering heat and ascend on HiFi Buys Amphitheater for the Curiosa Festival July 29th. The festival features The Cure, Interpol, The Rapture, Muse, Auf der Maur, and more. It'll be so great, you'll lose track of how much runny, black eyeliner will be present. Lollapalooza 2004 also hits Atlanta August 21 and August 22 in the Turner Field parking lot. The tour has been extended to two days this year and features an incredible lineup. Artists include Morrissey , Sonic Youth , Modest Mouse , Von Bondies , The Flaming Lips , and many many more. Tickets go on sale June 16th at 10am.
