Summerfest , the Virginia Highlands Civic Association festival, will take place June 5th and 6th. The free festival offers activities for everyone, including an artist market and 5K run. The 99X Music stage will feature local acts such as Five Eight , Michelle Malone , Bain Mattox , Y-O-U , and more. The stage is located in John Howell Park on Virginia Avenue. 99X and Park Tavern bring back Unplugged in the Park this Summer. The free concert series takes place Sunday evenings at 7pm on Park Tavern's patio overlooking Piedmont Park. Performers include The Lost Trailers, Red Letter Agent, Jump Little Children, and more. www.unpluggedinthepark.com
 

Seminal Athens rock band Five Eight were recently added into regular rotation at 99x. The track �Square Peg� is the first single off their highly acclaimed self-titled album. The record is their first release since 2000�s �The Good Nurse� and was mixed by John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr, The Breeders, Jay Farrar) and co-produced by Five Eight and Geoff Melkonian (of the Josh Joplin Group).

JāD recently signed with Budweiser True Music for a 12 month sponsorship/promo campaign. This follows the March 2004 release of their new EP, More Than Coincidence, a follow up to the bands full length debut Lose Your Mind. JāD has also recently announced Steve Sidman of Greenberg Traurig as the band's new attorney.

The artists that will showcase during the 2004 Atlantis Music Conference have been selected. You can check out a full line up at www.atlantismusic.com. The conference takes place from July 21st to July 24th and as well as the bands playing there are 18+ hours of extensive panels including information for artists wanting to tour, legal information, publishing rights, help with how to get press coverage, a Demo Derby and information regarding distribution. This years key note speaker will be TVT Records President Steve Gottlieb.

Summer is here, and it's time once again for Screen on the Green, a series of free movies to be shown on a giant screen in Piedmont Park. Admission is free and the movies begin each Thursday night at Sunset. Check out the lineup on our Concerts section. www.turner.com/screenonthegreen

Vinyl, located next to Earthlink Live, is now hosting "Tuesday Night Live," an open mic night for the whole band. The venue provides the backline while bands are invited to come onstage and rock out. The 4th Annual On The Bricks concert series will kick-off May 28th and run every Friday night through August. The concerts, held downtown in Centennial Park will cost $5 each this year and Train, Liz Phair and Gavin McGraw are scheduled to be the acts on opening night.
