Mr. Gnome – The Heart Of A Dark Star (El Marko Records)
Mr. Gnome are a duo whose melancholy, prickling, guitar-driven sound nods to Cat Power-influenced indie rock acts such as Land Of Talk and Lightning Dust. The duo consists of vocalist/guitarist Nicole Barille and drummer/pianist Sam Meister and formed in Cleveland, OH in 2005. The Heart Of A Dark Star is the duo’s first completely self-recorded album. Manchester Orchestra – Hope (Concord)
Atlanta’s own Manchester Orchestra released Hope as a stripped-down recreation of their most recent album, Cope, which came out in April of this year. TV On The Radio – Seeds (CMG)
TV On The Radio has been mixing post-punk, electronic and other atmospheric elements in their music since the early 2000’s.
