Tuesday night Nelly entertained a packed house for the second annual Samsung AT&T Summer Krush concert series. Although the Grammy Award winner didn’t take the stage until over 40 minutes after his scheduled time, Nelly did not disappoint. The show started with a bang- literally- as an all female drumline decked in Nelly’s own Apple Bottom clothing line took the stage with an energetic performance to welcome the man of the night.
Nelly kept the energy high throughout the performance that ran well over its predicted one hour time frame. He churned out some of his past hits, including "Air Force Ones" and "Let Me in Now," as well as treating the crowd to some new ones, including “Party People.” “Party People,” which features Fergie, is one of the first singles off of Nelly’s upcoming album Brass Knuckles- out in stores on September 16.
The highlight of the night was all of Nelly’s friends that he brought with him. The St. Lunatics joined him early in the set, and the cast of familiar faces did not stop. By the end of the night all of hip-hops biggest players were on the stage performing with Nelly, including hitmaster Jermaine Dupri and Gnarls Barkley’s Ceelo.
It was a memorable night for all and a great opportunity for some of Nelly’s devoted fans to see the superstar for free. Samsung AT&T also added to the excitement by providing futurist booths for guests to not only try out the new Samsung BlackJack II phone but get a chance to win one!
This was the best concert I’ve been too in a long time. Nelly was actually 2 hours late. Show was scheduled to start at 8 p.m., it didn’t start until 10 p.m.
