As a fan of Local Natives and Beach House, I instantly gravitated towards the debut, self-titled album from Milo Greene (released last week). I invited a friend to join me at the Drunken Unicorn and was pleasantly surprised when several other friends wanted to tag along to check out this new band too.
With Atlanta being the first stop on Milo Greene’s new tour, we wondered if they would be nervous or awkward, but instead we were at amazed out how comfortable and natural the band was on stage. The house was packed at Drunken Unicorn and the audience swayed to the beautiful melodies. All 4 singers have captivating voices, singing together in soft and smooth harmonies. There is not a frontman in this band, and with the exception of the drummer, the members switched places and instruments often. We looked forward to hearing more from Marlana Sheetz on each song, and we wondered if the drummer would ever jump in on a song or two as well. In the end, 4 talented singers were enough to take in.
The songs that really left an impression were “Silent Way, “1957”, and “What’s the Matter”. The band even covered Sufjan Steven’s “Chicago”, though there originals were much more powerful.
If you missed Milo Greene’s performance at Drunken Unicorn this past Saturday or want to see them again then you’re in luck! Milo Greene will be at The Earl on Thursday, October 18th. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10:00 AM at www.TicketAlternative.com
