It’s not that often that you can
truthfully tout a concert as a “Rare Event,” but tomorrow night’s performance
by Jon Auer and Matt Brown at Eddie’s Attic actually deserves to be called just
that. As half of the singing/songwriting members (along with Ken Stringfellow)
of Seattle’s preeminent popsters The Posies, Auer has been making thoroughly
melodic music for more than 20 years, but his travels have rarely brought him
to Georgia. And Brown, leader of popular (with the emphasis on “pop”) ‘80s Atlanta
(later re-christened 3 Lb. Thrill in the ‘90s), moved back to his native New
Jersey several years ago and his return visits, unfortunately, have been few
and far between.
Tomorrow night’s 8 p.m. all-ages show will feature a solo set by each
artist and then a shorter set where the two will play some songs together.
Chris Chandler of Party Panda Productions – the people responsible for bringing
similarly singular performances to Atlanta
by The Long Ryders, The Effigies, and Ian McNabb of Icicle Works in recent
months – says that both Auer and Brown are flying in just for this show and have
no plans for other shows at this point. So treat yourself to a truly “Rare
Event,” and at only $10 for advanced tickets, you can afford to bring the whole
family!
Sounds like a great event! Feel free to promote this and similar events free at Atlanta Events.
