Welcome to the first installment of "Interviews" with Sara and Melinda
(the Sorted girls). We've kicked off our
section at one of the hottest summer tours, "The Warped Tour." Stay
tuned and join our mailing list to find out when the latest interviews have
been posted. |

The
Warped Tour rolled into Atlanta last Wednesday with
their group of prank pulling, van wearing punk bands
ranging from hardcore to powerpop. We had an opportunity
to meet up backstage with two of today’s heavy
hitting newcomers – Chuck Comeau of Simple
Plan & Zachary Davidson of ‘Vendetta
Red.

‘Chuck Comeau From Simple Plan’
– Warped Tour Interview
w/ Sara & Melinda

CC: Oh, I see I’m being
double teamed with this interview!
SM: Intimidation is what we’re going
for! Hope it’s working. Welcome to Atlanta!
It seems as though you’re always on tour.
When is your next break?
CC: Well we’ve toured the
past 17-19 months straight with no break. But
we do get 2 weeks off at the end of the tour,
which is nice. And even though we’ve been
touring constantanly, we get to play in the most
amazing places. We’ve seen Australia, Thailand,
Mexico, and Jamaica to name a few.
MM: This isn’t your first time on
the Warped Tour is it, you played a little last
year if I’m correct?
CC: Yeah, we played for two weeks
of the tour last year which was pretty cool.
SM: It must be cool to play along side
some of the old school punk bands like Rancid
or Pennywise. Do you have any favorite bands on
the tour?
CC: Some of our favorites are
Rancid, The Used, AFI, All American Rejects. We
just love the tour because of the vibe. We have
a barbeque every night and have become good friends
with Rancid, who have seemed to embraced us
and been very supportive. I mean this band grew
up loving Rancid…so it’s pretty cool.
MM: Very cool. So we heard that the creators
of the Warped Tour are making a Slasher Movie? Is
that true and if so do you guys take part at all?
CC: Yeah, it’s true. We
are going to be in it, it’s our first movie
experience!
SM: So, the majority of the mass public
first heard your music from your song, “Addicted”
featured as the theme song on MTV’s ‘Fraternity
Life’. How do you feel about that sort of
promotion and do you think it was postive in portraying
what you guys are about?
CC: Positive I think. I mean,
anytime we have a chance to have our music heard
we’ll do it. People are more open to that
now. It’s not my favorite show or anything,
but it was rad to see drunk people do stupid
shit! The band is completely opposite of
that show, but it worked.
MM: We found out that you guys are in
the process of doing an ad for PETA. How did you
get involved with that?
CC: We were first informed of
PETA at the tent they had setup on the tour here.
We stressed upfront with PETA about not being
vegan, but the guy said that if we can save
one animal that's a start. So we
decided to do this advertisment. The ad shows
us with a skinned fox, blood covering all over
the fur saying, “This is where fur comes
from.” We were told that it’s one
of the most graphic ads they’ve done.
SM: So have you had the opportunity to
spend much time here in Atlanta?
CC: Not as much as we’d
like. I hear awesome things about it. I would
really love to visit CNN! I watch that channel
all the time!
MM: Well it was great to meet you and
thanks for letting us spend time with you!
SM: We’re looking forward to seeing
your show later on this afternoon as well! Take
Care and next time you’re here be sure to
check out the city more!
CC: Thank you, and we’ll see you later on
at the show then!!

‘Zachary
Davidson of Vendetta Red’ – Warped Tour
Interview
w/ Sara & Melinda

SM:
So this is your first time on the tour? What do
you think?
ZD: I love it! It’s so much better cause
we have our own bus! We get more sleep, and sleep
is important! If you share a bus, people are always
pulling pranks on each other.
SM: So do guys ever pull pranks on each
other or had anything pulled on you?
ZD: Yeah, ha funny story…We were in Tuscon,
Arizona staying in a hotel. Our bass player Michael
got in the hotel pool with his clothes on and
so I poured jack and coke over him. We had to
leave before he could take a shower, so Michael
got me back by putting his wet boxers in my pillowcase
and by the time he found it, it stunk so bad!
SM: Those are some of the best things
about this tour if you ask me. We heard that the
creators of the Warped Tour were actually making
a Slasher movie! Are you guys playing any part
in that?
ZD: Yeah, it’s very cool. Called ‘Punk
Rock Holocost,’ and our drummer Joseph is
getting his head cut off!
MM: So are you guys happy with the attention
this new album is getting?
ZD: Totally, I mean we’re always excited
to have this opportunity to perform. We’re
constantly writing new songs and are itching to
get back into the studio. Even these songs on
“Between never and the now,” are getting
old to us.
SM: Well we’re looking forward to
hearing them! And seeing your show in a couple
hours! Maybe we’ll hang out when you get
back to town in a few months!
ZD: Totally, thank you
