A name you won’t quickly forget, Viceroy and his “summertime, all the time” motto seep deep into both his original and remix catalog leaving a lush, tropical disco-house sound that is paralleled by no one. It’s this distinctive sound that has found Viceroy with features in VICE Magazine, The Huffington Post, MTV, Nylon Magazine, Fresh New Tracks, Gotta Dance Dirty, All Things Go, This Song Is Sick, and many more.
2013 has seen Viceroy release “Dream Of Bombay” along with the next edition of his now infamous “Jet Life” remix series with a funk-filled rework of Montell Jordan’s “This Is How We Do It”. Most recently, Viceroy has teamed up with New York City’s French Horn Rebellion on “Friday Nights,” an all new original track featuring Robert Perlick-Molinari’s crooning vocals and ear-catching bouncing grooves.
We were lucky enough to catch up with Viceroy before his show here in Atlanta! Check out what he had to say about his first concert, his more memorable gig and his dream lineup!
What’s the first gig you ever attended?
The first gig I ever attended was Good Charlotte with New Found Glory and Less Than Jake in 7th grade (2002). I have zero shame in admitting that!
What is the best gig that you ever played/performed?
That’s hard to say. My favorite location I’ve ever played was on Juanillo Beach in the Dominican Republic. My best gig may have been when I headlined Webster Hall in NYC. It was sold out and it went off.
What is the best gig you have ever seen?
The recent Passion Pit show I saw blew me away. They’ve really perfected their live performance since they first started, but I wouldn’t say it was the best gig I’ve ever seen. I would have to say The Rolling Stones show I saw in high school is up there. They have mastered the definition of a great live performance.
Gig you would most like to play?
I’d love to play at a major stage at Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco. It’s my hometown and I’ve never experienced a cooler festival in my life.
What would be the lineup for your dream gig?
I assume you mean who I’d love to play alongside? That’s a tough one. Not to sound cliche, but probably Daft Punk and CHIC.
Make sure you grab your tickets to see Viceroy at Space 2: The Sound Table on Saturday, August 17th!
