Bart Crow began taking songwriting seriously while at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas, as he took his first real steps as a performer. “I kept a journal in the Army and I went back into that and moved some things around and made a couple of songs up, not even knowing what to do or how to do it,” he says. “Then, one day I said to my friend Jason Boland, ‘I think I’d like to try my hand at this. I’ve got this book of songs I’ve been writing.’ He said, ‘Why not? We have the rest of our lives to be old and boring. Might as well do it while you can.”

We were able to catch a quick interview with Bart before his upcoming performance at Eddie’s Attic on March 5th!

What’s the first gig you ever attended?

My dad was in a band, “The Silver River Band”, when I was a kid and my first concert was watching them play the city street dance where I grew up in Maypearl, Texas.

What is the best gig that you ever performed?

That’d have to be Dallas Mardi Gras. 5000+ screaming fans singing along to every word.

What is the best gig you have ever seen?

That’s a tough one because I’ve been lucky enough to see greats in several different genres. So here’s a few: Merle Haggard @ Bass Hall, Ryan Adams & The Cardinals @ The Majestic, George Strait @ Coca-Cola Starplex, Steve Earle @ The Paramount, Mastadon, Deftones, & Alice In Chains @ Red Rocks (that one blew my mind!)

Gig you would most like to play?

Red Rocks

What would be the lineup for your dream gig?

Dave Grohl, John Paul Jones, Eric Clapton, and Muscle Shoals Horns & we’d just play what we want & LOUD!!
