Nate Ruess, former lead singer and songwriter for The Format, has joined forces with Andrew Dost, formerly with Anathallo, and Steel Train’s Jack Antonoff to form a new band- Fun. Although Ruess has quietly been working on Fun material for sometime, the trio will officially enter the studio in early September to start work on their first album which will hopefully be released in early 2009.
Fun will be joined by the producing team of Steven McDonald and Roger Joseph Manning, Jr., both of whom added to the magic of The Format’s 2006 hit Dog Problems. Don’t worry though, you don’t have to wait until next year to year Fun’s sound. Their first single is slated to be released digitally in November and they will be hitting the road with Jack’s Mannequin on November 8 for a North American tour. Check out Fun’s MySpace page to listen to their first release- "Benson Hedges." Also check out AMG‘s exclusive photos of Jack’s Mannequin performing at this summer’s Vans Warped Tour in Atlanta.
