Rejoice Depeche Mode fans! The Iconic English trio, consideded by many to be THE quintessential electro-pop band will be back in full action very soon.
The group is currently in New York working on their twelfth studio album which will begin selling in the U.S. on April 21st – the follow up to their 2005 release Playing the Angel.
To support the release, Depeche Mode will embark on its "Tour of the Universe 2009" which will feature them performing in 28 cities across 21 countries.
Mute records, a subsidiary of EMI, has been the band’s musical home since 1981, and the band recently signed a new deal with the label. In addition to continued creative stability for the band, the deal will make EMI Depeche Mode’s exclusive distributor, meaning EMI will release the group’s music directly to the U.S. for the first time. Bass and keyboard player Andy Fletcher is excited about the new deal. "We are so pleased to be continuing our relationship with Mute, and we feel very positive about the new team and set-up at EMI," explains Andy. "This is going to be an exciting new chapter."
