Remember in cartoons, when the main character would be digging through their attic or basement tossing out everything from a palm tree to the kitchen sink? Normally somewhere in that mess is a spare tuba, or at least a couple of recorders. As much as we chuckle at this, most people have some sort of instrument lying around their house not being used; well, the Atlanta Music Project is asking you to share. Starting Monday, July 18 the Atlanta Music Project will host its first-ever city-wide instrument donation drive. The drive will take place over a three-week period, ending on Saturday, August 6, and all instruments go straight to the students of the Atlanta Music Project.
“Instruments make up 30% of Atlanta Music Project’s program expenses,” says Executive Director Dantes Rameau. “Every instrument donation that we receive helps us serve more kids and further our mission of enacting social change through music.”
Accepted instruments to include: violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, piccolo, clarinet, bass clarinet, E flat clarinet, oboe, English horn, bassoon, contrabassoon, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, snare drum, timpani.
