The 15th annual Decatur BBQ Blues & Bluegrass Festival will take place on Saturday, Aug. 15 from 12 – 8 pm and is once again bringing a diverse and powerful lineup of blues and bluegrass artists! The festival was founded by the Decatur Preservation Alliance (DPA) in 2000 in an effort to help raise money to save the old Decatur train depot. What started as a flatbed trailer serving as a stage has grown into a huge annual festival with thousands of people in attendance every year!
Kicking off this year’s festival is local blues legend Beverly Guitar Watkins, known for her scorching behind-the-head guitar solos that will blow you away. She’ll set the tone and the bar for the day of musical talent. The Dappled Grays will then return to the festival stage after an 8 year hiatus to bring together pure Bluegrass harmonies and a progressive Bluegrass sound.
Making their debut at the festival are two nationally acclaimed acts – local band Sailing to Denver, and Lockdown Blues Band from Raleigh, NC. Returning for another explosive Blues-Rock performance is Michelle Malone, who will be fresh off the road from a string of dates supporting the Indigo Girls.
Finally, Seven Handle Circus will headline the festival after an epic performance back in 2013. This 6-piece band will present their own unique twist on Bluegrass and Folk that will get everyone up and dancing.
