True indie music legend Dean Wareham fronted one of the most influential underground/independent bands of the late ’80s, Galaxie 500. The three-piece, featuring Wareham, Damon Krukowski and Naomi Yang, began playing together while attending Harvard University. Although only a band for a relatively short time, and with only three studio records released, the music of Galaxie 500 continues to inspire bands today.
Celebrating the re-release of Galaxie 500’s now classic three albums (Today, On Fire, This Is Our Music) Dean Wareham will be performing songs from the band’s catalog on Friday, September 17 at The EARL. Wareham will be backed by a band featuring his wife Britta Phillips (ex-member of Atlanta’s Ultrababyfat) drummer Anthony LaMarca and keyboard player Matt Sumrow.
