Rock guitarist Joe Satriani has sued Coldplay, accusing them of plagiarism.
In the suit, filed yesterday in Los Angeles federal court, Satriani claims the Coldplay song "Viva La Vida" incorporates "substantial original portions" of his 2004 instrumental "If I Could Fly" off of his album Is "There Love in Space?"
The Coldplay tune is credited to the bands four members, Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Johnny Buckland and WIll Champion.
Satriani is seeking a jury trial, damages and any and all profits attributable to the alleged copyright infringement.
