Last month, singer-songwriter, Sarah Tollerson, released her second album, Wherever We Go. The indie, folk player out of Winder, Georgia and now a Nashville resident, turned to award-winning, producer Neilson Hubbard to record her latest album. The country music capital’s influences are certainly reflected in her most recent work.
The love songs pull you through stories of passion, heartache, and everything in between. Recorded at Hubbard’s East Nashville studio, the album showcases 9 original indie folk-pop songs, including co-writes with Hubbard and Nashville artist Joseph Patton.
With just a year under her belt at UGA, Sarah was accepted to Berklee College of Music, and soon came back with a handful of songwriting awards and her first recorded album, Keeping Old Love Letters. The love song themes continue and are worked out in the follow up album.
Starting with “Falling For Each Other” Tollerson sings about fast moving love, slightly reminiscent of Taylor Swift’s catchy and upbeat tunes. Tollerson talks about throwing the rules of dating to the wind and falling in love too quickly.
Moving through the album, “Fallen Back In” was the strongest of the tracks. Tollerson really begins to show off her vocals, and I could easily imagine hearing this song on the radio.
Things slow down with “I’ll Sneak Away”. A simple piano backs Tollerson, pushing the focus onto the vocals and the lyrics. The song tells about a lover sneaking away in the night. After years of an off and on relationship, she sings of slipping away while her lover sleeps.
Following “I’ll Sneak Away” is “I’ll Love You Forever” a stark contrast. Unlike the previous song, this one is about her never ending love. Regardless of time, or wrinkles fading in, she sings of their enduring love.
Fans of Sara Bareilles, Taylor Swift, and even Sheryl Crow will enjoy Tollerson’s pop-driven, romantic tracks. With the help of Neilson Hubbard, Sarah Tollerson has made an album likely to be garnering more attention. Check out her newest album Wherever We Go!
