Boombox at Terminal West

What does the kid of a couple that performed with the Grateful Dead do when he grows up? Start his own killer music project of course. BoomBox consists of two versatile producers, DJs, songwriters, multi-instrumentalists and longtime friends Russ Randolph and Zion Rock Godchaux. Together they develop an electronic blend of vintage Rock and Blues made to move dance floors while incorporating their signature Backbeat, Psychedelia and Funky House sounds. Applying a multi-track platform, they are free to create their hybrid style on the fly with a rhythm that moves fans and opens them up to Godchaux and Randolph’s overall vision.

Doors at 9 p.m. Tickets: $18

Childish Gambino at The Masquerade Music Park

This college educated writer, actor, and comedian from the suburbs is not exactly your typical rapper from the streets, but that hasn’t stopped him from rising to hip-hop stardom. His knack for words combined with killer rhythm and lyrical styling allows him to blur the lines of performing comedy and dishing out hip-hop beats. “Donald Glover” appeals to people that don’t even care for rap music, which is probably why he sells out most shows he books.

Show at 6 p.m. This show is SOLD OUT!

The Steepwater Band with 68-75 at Smith’s Olde Bar

Formed in Chicago back in 1998, The Steepwater Band’s signature sound is a nod to early British blues, combined with a modern, raw and gutsy musical approach. Founding members Massey, Bowers and Winters have a synergy that comes from years of playing together. Then in early 2012, the long-time trio was joined by Saylors, from Indianapolis, IN, who brought an added depth to the TSB LIVE sound. Although the band got their start as devotees of delta blues, they have since been expanding on their influences, absorbing everything from psychedelia to Americana, from Jazz to 50’s Rock n’ Roll Music.
