Rolling Stone has named Atlanta soul songstress Janelle Monae as one of the hottest things in 2008, earning the title "Hot Sci-Fi Beyonce". Her unique blend of musical genre's and futuristic vibe has people saying that she has staked a claim on the future of R&B music. When asked about this Monae replies "The old way hasn't worked, look at declining record sales. This is the perfect time to take a risk."
Another Atlantan was mentioned in the Monae piece. The producer of Janelle's album "Metropolis: The Chase Suite" is none other than Big Boi.
She has big industry names saying good things about her, such as Diddy (who signed Monae on his Bad Boy record label) who says the singer is "possibly the most important singing of my career." Prince has offered Janelle his advice, giving her his number after a show and telling her to call him if she ever needed to speak to him.
Big things will come from this Atlanta artist in 2009. Keep an eye and an ear out for this one.
