The King Khan and BBQ Show w/ Upchuck, Rude Dude & The Creek Freaks at The Earl
Thursday, August 8th at 8:30pm
The King Khan & BBQ Show are BACK, this time as the ‘Bad News Boys’ they originally wanted to be, the moniker and album title was the actual original name of the band circa 2003. Too late to actually change the name, they’ve lived through about every misspelling and rearrangement of the current name, possible. And, although confusing to reviewers and ‘fans’, there are two guys in the band, both writing, performing and singing.
Particle Kid w/ Rujen at Vinyl
Friday, August 9th at 8:00pm
Hailed by Rolling Stone as “a musical polymath who combines an indie DIY aesthetic with a questing hippie spirit and a relentless work ethic,“ Particle Kid has spent much of the past decade in constant evolution, having gone from making DIY bedroom recordings and performing at underground house shows to collaborating and touring with Neil Young, and sharing the stage with the Saharan Tuareg group Tinariwen, and most recently opening for The Flaming Lips and The Claypool Lennon Delirium.
Tilian / Landon Tewers / Brent Walsh / RIVALS at The Masquerade
Friday, August 9th at 7:00pm
Alt-rock singer and songwriter Tilian Pearson incorporates elements of electropop into lush, melodic rock anthems under his solo moniker, Tilian. Leader of post-hardcore group Tides of Man in the late 2000s, he played with other bands on the Rise Records roster before staying on as co-lead singer of the harsher-sounding Dance Gavin Dance as of 2012. He has maintained a parallel career as a frontman and solo artist since releasing his first album as Tilian, Material Me, in 2013.
