Love Tractor and The Swimming Pool Q’s at The Vista Room ATL

Friday, June 28th at 8:15pm

Event Link

Love Tractor (1980–2002) a band from Athens, Georgia, founded in spring 1980 by guitarists Mark Cline, Mike Richmond and bassist Armistead Wellford. Like The B-52’s, Pylon and R.E.M., Love Tractor is lauded by critics and music historians as one of the founders of the Athens, Georgia, alternative rock scene. Love Tractor toured extensively and recorded six critically acclaimed albums, consistently topping the college and alternative charts. Love Tractor was particularly known for their instrumental rock.[1]

After a return to the public eye in the late ’90s, Love Tractor released 2001’s swan song The Sky At Night. The group disbanded in 2002.

Founded in Atlanta in 1978, The Swimming Pool Q’s were among the first generation of Georgia’s celebrated New Wave bands that included THE B-52’s, THE BRAINS, PYLON and R.E.M. When original members Jeff Calder and Bob Elsey were joined by Anne Richmond Boston, the initial configuration of the Q’s quickly established a reputation for superb musicianship and originality. With a barrage of East Coast and regional dates beginning in 1979 (including the Southern leg of the first major POLICE tour), The Swimming Pool Q’s developed the confident live presentation they have maintained into the present era.

Dead & Co Aftershow: DJ Logic & Kudzu Kings at The Loft

Saturday, June 29th at 11:00pm

Event Link

Kudzu Kings return yet again to The Loft @ Center Stage in Atlanta; this time with all 6 original members: Tate Moore, Robert Chaffe, Kudzu Dave Woolworth, Max Williams, George McConnell, and Chuck Sigler – and a special collaboration with the renowned DJ Logic planned. The band has entered its 25th year with new material and plenty of energy and good times.

The Kings continue to play their burgeoning catalog of “true story” original rock, country, and “funktry” songs, tell unbelievable tales that involve unicycling Russian Bears with State Police, and recite butchered literary quotes. This “Walt Disney” of bands appeals to the young, old and in between – there is something for everyone every night.

The Chasm, Cruciamentum, Infernal Conjuration, and Vimur at The Earl

Sunday, June 30th at 7:00pm

Event Link

The story of The Chasm is one of sheer determination to survive, pure dedication to their art and unflinching single mindedness in the fact of adversity. Not many bands can have experienced what The Chasm has and yet still manage to release, undaunted, so much quality, genuinely adventurous music.

The Chasm was formed in January 1993, in Mexico City. Daniel Corchado left his old band Cenotaph to embark on a dark journey: the procreation of an unique form of obscure and bizarre Metal of Death. Corchado carried with him the inspiration of the ancient masters: Celtic Frost, Slayer, Black Sabbath, Sacrifice, Destruction and the pure essence of traditional heavy metal plus an infusion of more contemporary acts like Carnage, Winter, Autopsy, early Mayhem, and Dismember.
