AMG Weekend Preview 04/18/2019 – 04/21/2019

Here’s a quick look at the best shows happening in Atlanta this weekend Thursday, April 18th through Sunday, April 21st!

Plini / Mestis / Dave Mackay at The Masquerade

Thursday, April 18th at 7:00pm

Event Link

PLINI is from this generation of devoted musicians pushing forward the boundaries of the genres they explore, incorporating various influnences to their art, self-made artists who benefited from the internet era to spread their creations. From guitar oriented songs reminding of Steve Vai, to jazz/fusion oriented tunes in the likes of early Cynic, djent, acoustic/percussive accents, more experimental, dissonant and agressive riffing or even elctronic touches, the record is a true mosaic of modern progressive music.

The Wild Reeds w/ Valley Queen at The Earl

Thursday, April 18th at 8:30pm

Event Link

The Wild Reeds are a band led by women, and that matters. Not a sister band, not a girl group, but a band fronted by three women, all talented singers, songwriters, and multi-instrumentalists in their own right: Kinsey Lee, Mackenzie Howe, and Sharon Silva, with drummer Nick Jones and bass player Nick Phakpiseth providing the Los Angeles-based band’s rhythmic foundation. Like a harmony at its euphoric best, the leads’ powerful — and powerfully distinct — voices merge to form a sound that can only be The Wild Reeds. On their third LP, Cheers, the band comes together to create an ode to the joys and pains of camaraderie.

The Mantras: 420 Festival After Party at The Hard Rock Atlanta

Friday, April 19th at 10:00pm

Event Link

The Mantras, a five piece jam machine born of Greensboro, NC have been conquering crowds and melting minds all over the country progressively for over a decade. The band’s music can be described with all types of varying rock and roll terminology, but is absolutely best defined by each listener’s ear and, equally important, their experience.

Saturday, April 20th at 10:00pm

Event Link

SweetWater 420 Festival returns to Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park, April 19-21, 2019 celebrating its 15th anniversary offering four stages hosting over 60 sets of music featuring a varied lineup of jam, rock, Americana, alternative, reggae, EDM, local artists and comedians.

The Titos and Kilroy Kobra at Eddie’s Attic

Saturday, April 20th at 9:00pm

Event Link

You think you’ve heard them before, but you haven’t. Dubbing their sound “suburban soul,” The Titos positively crackle. They blend the musical traditions of the south — blues, gospel, a little country — with hip-hop cadences and rock-and-roll attitude. Alternatively plaintive and swaggering, their lyrics wrestle with hollowness and heartbreak, violence and unexpected joy. Guitarist and Atlanta native Alex Lotito writes and sings the songs. His vocals are as warm and prickly as bottom-shelf whiskey — and they’ll draw you in just the same.

EARL 20th Anniversary w/ The Scientists (2 Nights)

Saturday, April 20th – Sunday, April 21st

Event Link

The Scientists are making a rare stop in Atlanta to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of The Earl in East Atlanta Village! Night 1 w/ Vincas + GG King, Night 2 w/ Gentleman Jesse & His Men + Subsonics. You could put on a Scientists record from this period and not know it was 23 years old!
