Post Thanksgiving usually means a lot of turkey leftovers, and the beginning of Christmas shopping with Black Friday. This year add a new tradition, and head to some of Atlanta’s best venues for post-Turkey day concerts. AMG has put together the weekends best concerts going on through the city to finish off your holiday weekend.
Friday, November 23rd-Sealions at The EARL
Join Atlanta natives at The EARL this weekend. Sealions has been touring on their first studio album, Strange Veins. Their unique mix is a breath from traditional music as they fuse genres. They cross between pop, rock, dance and electro music.
Friday, November 23rd-Col. Bruce Hampton & The Pharaoh Kitchen at Smiths Olde Bar
Bruce Hampton isn’t just a musician. He’s an actor, a singer, a magician, and an artist, and he combines all of those aspects into his shows. So if you are looking for a concert a little out of the normal, head down to Smiths Olde Bar to see Col. Bruce Hampton & The Pharaoh Kitchen.
Friday, November 23rd-Randall Bramblett Band’s CD Pre-Release Show at Eddie’s Attic
Randall has a rich career dating back to the 70’s. Early on with Capricorn Records, Randall joined the influential band Sea Level with Chuck Leavell and did a solo tour with Gregg Allman. From there, Bramblett became one of the most sought after songwriters and sidemen, and landed on the speed dial of some of the greatest names in rock history, including Steve Winwood (16 years), Levon Helm, Warren Haynes, Delbert McClinton and Widespread Panic.
Friday, November 23rd-JK & the Lost Boys at Vinyl
More Atlanta natives, JK & The Lost Boys have been together since high school. Through different members and sounds, the band has come into a distinct rhythm. But this change also means they have decided to change their name, and their show this Friday will be their last as JK & The Lost Boys. Fans can vote on their new name as their launch their new site with their new (unannounced) name. This will be the last time to see JK & The Lost Boys under that title!
Saturday, November 24th- Soul Clap and Dance Off at The EARL
Called New York’s “best soul party”, Soul Clap and Dance Off with Jonathan Toubin is coming to the south. Toubin started Soul Clap and Dance Off as a way to change the nightlife music and encourage dancing in nearly any venue, bar, or club. For a night of fun to dance off all the Thanksgiving food head to The EARL.
Saturday, November 24th-Zach Deputy at Smiths Olde Bar
The bearded funk and soul artist will be taking the stage at Smiths Olde Bar. The laid back, Jack Johnson-esque musician released his third album with a more upbeat tone than his previous albums.
Saturday, November 24th-Radiolucent with Josh Roberts & The Hinges at Peachtree Tavern
Made up of four southern men, Radiolucent plays southern rock ‘n’ roll. Josh Roberts & The Hinges will also be at Peachtree Tavern on Saturday, and while also country rock, they also meld in soul and blues into their music.
Saturday, November 24th-Ellis Paul with special guest, Peyton Tochterman at Eddie’s Attic
Ellis Paul is one of the leading voices in American songwriting. He was a principle leader in the wave of singer/songwriters that emerged from the Boston folk scene, creating a movement that revitalized the national acoustic circuit with an urban, literate, folk pop style that helped renew interest in the genre in the 1990’s.
