Friday, December 20 – Eddie’s Christmas Special @ Eddie’s Attic
Eddie’s Attic presents a holiday showcase of talent including Ryan Horne, Micah Dalton, Nathan Angelo and Jonathan Rich. Independent singer-songwriter Ryan Horne will bring it all to the table. Six albums into his 10-year career, Horne has arrived at a clear musical vision, and it is grand: a really emotional, big, and beautiful record with a lot of character. It’s a style laced with strings, bells, banjo, delicate reverb and thumping percussion. Horne’s bold efforts create a sonic texture as unusual as it is captivating… and nothing says “Merry Christmas” like unusual.
There are two shows! Doors at 6:30pm and 9:30pm. Tickets are $12 in advance. Online and phone sales end at 5pm.
Friday, December 20 – Jeffrey Butzer & TT Mahony @ The EARL
“Isn’t there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?!” Charlie Brown exclaims in A Charlie Brown Christmas. For many, A Charlie Brown Christmas and its score by Vince Guaraldi perfectly capture what the season is about. In its 6th year, for two nights on December 20th and 21st, Jeffrey Bützer and TT Mahony will perform Guaraldi’s score with a spirit fitting of Charlie Brown himself. The trio will take you back your childhood with the jazzy 40-minute score featuring all the fun/melancholy tones that define Christmas.

Friday, December 20 – Please PleaseRock Me @ Smith’s Olde Bar
Please PleaseRock Me is the new group from the PleaseRock collective that compiles the music of the Beatles. They go beyond accurate Beatles recreations. Their set includes famous Beatles covers, songs they wrote for other artists, solo material and songs from other bands they’ve collaborated with. We Hope You Will Enjoy the Show!

Saturday, December 21 – Blind Boys of Alabama @ Eddie’s Attic
Nearly seventy-five years after they hit their first notes together, the Blind Boys of Alabama are exceptional not only in their longevity, but also in the breadth of their catalog and their relevance to contemporary roots music. Since 2000, they’ve won five Grammys and four Gospel Music Awards, and have delivered their spiritual message to countless listeners. This weekend they play their “Go Tell It On the Mountain” Christmas set at Eddie’s!

Saturday, December 21 – Soul Suga @ Eddie’s Attic
“She’s good. She’s damn good.” Sting’s summation of his duet with singer songwriter Diane Durrett aka Soul Suga speaks for anyone who’s ever heard her perform. A Memphis reporter once wrote that Diane’s performance was so powerful that “if you don’t go see her she may just come see you!”

This Floridian Riff Colossus that has steamrolled its way across the international underground. Led by vocalist/guitarist Steve Brooks and featuring the myriad talents of Rick Smith, Jonathan Nuñez and Juan Montoya, Torche unfurled their self-titled debut in 2005. The glorious blissed out, cosmic grooves and triumphant harmonies were variously hailed as “thunder rock” and “doom pop.” Since then, the bandmates have been lauded as giants among men, leaders among sheep, and powerbrokers of a deadly new sonic idiom.

Sunday, December 22 – Joe Grandsen’s Big Band Holiday Show @ Eddie’s Attic
Joe Gransden has performed worldwide and released ten CDs. Renowned first for the hard bop approach of his trumpet, Gransden’s singing voice has been compared to that of Chet Baker and Frank Sinatra. But lately his voice has taken on its own style with a deeper resonance. We can’t think of a better artist to play all the Christmas classics.
