Friday, February 28- Dwele w/Rhonda Thomas @ the Crowne Plaza Hotel
“Music is what I do and who I am,” explains Dwele, multitalented songwriter, producer, and musician. “It’s my release.” And what a sweet, soulful release you will experience upon hearing his new album, Some Kinda. Dwele will be performing music from his incredible catalog tonight at the Crowne Plaza on Ashford Dunwoody Rd with HNL Records Artist, Rhonda Thomas as his opening act. “I’m not the same guy,” which is certainly an understatement for Graham Colton. After a major label career, numerous TV appearances, and the limiting musical peg of “singer-songwriter,” Colton has gone through a complete reinvention on his new album Lonely Ones. Credit his reinvention to a few things: Colton’s return to the Oklahoma music scene; a budding friendship with the Flaming Lips; and for his new record, an entirely new approach to songwriting.

Friday, February 28- Mama’s Blue Dress w/Special Guests India Ramey and Kate & Corey @ Eddie’s Attic
Mama’s Blue Dress is an all-female country quartet featuring airtight harmonies and vocal chemistry, blazing twin fiddles and a hint of soul. As one fan said, “I haven’t heard a group of women play and sing together this well since the Bush administration.”
Growing up, Kate listened to country, while Corey listened to jazz and the blues. The inspirations of Patsy Cline, The Dixie Chicks, Miles Davis and Bob Dylan are quite apparent in their Bluesy Americana style.

Saturday, March 1- Alejandro Escovedo and Peter Buck @ the EARL
Alejandro Escovedo is one with his muse and his music. Over a lifetime spent traversing the bridge between words and melody, he has ranged over an emotional depth that embraces all forms of genre and presentation, a resolute voice that weathers the emotional terrain of our lives, its celebrations and despairs, landmines and blindsides and upheavals and beckoning distractions, in search for ultimate release and the healing truth of honesty.
Peter Buck is a guitarist best known for playing in and co-founding alternative rock band R.E.M. Throughout his career with R.E.M. as well as during his subsequent solo career, Buck has also been at various times an official member of numerous ‘side project’ groups including Hindu Love Gods, The Minus 5, Tuatara, The Baseball Project, Robyn Hitchcock and the Venus 3, and Tired Pony.

Blair Crimmins began his current music career right here in Atlanta, with a determination to bring Ragtime and 1920’s style Dixieland Jazz to new audiences. What he created was a sound that is at once modern while being deeply rooted in the past. He has opened for headlining acts such as Mumford and Sons and O.A.R. A multi-instrumentalist and music academic, Crimmins writes songs and arrangements for a classic New Orleans style horn section consisting of trumpet, clarinet, and trombone.

The 1st Annual Brother Hawk Big Medicine Festival is this Saturday, March 1st at The Basement in East Atlanta Village. The lineup includes: Brother Hawk, Death on Two Wheels, StoneRider, Big Jesus, Fox Grin, Eel Pie, Fairlane, Prayer Chain, and Bad Moods. Sunday, March 2- Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas @ Eddie’s Attic
Alasdair’s richly expressive playing transports listeners across a broad musical spectrum, ranging from haunting laments from the Gaelic tradition to classically-styled airs, raucous dance tunes, and improvisations based on traditional themes. His vast repertoire spans several centuries of Scottish music and includes his own compositions, which blend a profound understanding of the Scottish tradition with cutting-edge musical explorations. He weaves through his performances a warm and witty narrative, drawing from a deep well of stories and lore surrounding Scotland’s musical heritage. Natalie is one of the most sought after cellists playing traditional music today. She and Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser have toured as a duo for over 12 years, wowing audiences at festivals and concerts worldwide with their unique sound.

In an era defined by cosigns and flashiness, Hopsin and his Funk Volume cohorts took to the rapper’s basement. Raised on the music of Eminem and 50 Cent, Hop studied how to engage fans, both with sharp lyricism and careful branding. While controversy may have made Hopsin a star, skill and courage made him a fan favorite. Whether making art in his basement, crowd-surfing or skiing Down Under, Hopsin has the attitude and charisma that makes Hip Hop unpredictable again. Nashville based songwriter, Tim McNary, found his passion for writing music and performing while spending 2 years volunteering and backpacking in South America after college. His sound has been described as raw and emotive. Since 2009, McNary has performed hundreds of shows around the Southeast and shared the stage with The Civil Wars and Griffin House, among many others. He has been compared to Ryan Adams, Ryan Bingham, Damien Rice, & David Gray.
